𝗜𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝟰𝟭 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗺𝗮𝘇𝗼𝗻

That’s a lot of reading especially since the chap below (Donald Broadbent) did some pioneering work on user centred design in the 60’s. We believe that understanding users and building technology products that help them is a strict coda with frameworks that need to be adhered to, but it wasn’t even being studied in universities 100 years ago.

That being said; Broadbent’s insights are still useful for us in improving online products today:
– 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: People have a limited capacity to process information, so must filter information to manage cognitive load. Removing friction and showcasing important content is a big part of my practise
– 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴: is done sequentially, so we must align product development with helping people understand things gradually and intuitively. Creating clarity is tough but so important.

Looking at these processes (20 years before we had a graphical user interface!) makes me excited for the future; keep implementing the good procedures and get AI to help us apply it faster.
