In my previous posts, I’ve discussed the crucial role that product images play when selling clothes and shoes online.
Customers want to replicate the in-store experience online: examining the item, feeling the material, and gauging the quality. The major ways we do that currently are through images, zoom and videos. However, a significant challenge is the fit; a surprising 59% of online shoppers express dissatisfaction with purchases due to improper fit
The other thing we can do in store is try it on. AI/AR is going to transform the possibilities of what we can do with this.
Here are two options I’ve seen recently:
🐸 JW Andersen allows you to scan a QR code and use your camera to visualise how their clothes would look on you, even allowing for colour variants and different positions. They’ve got a prominent purchase button and the whole system (powered by WANNA | 3D, AR & Immersive Experiences) is pretty slick.
👕 Google now offers an AI try-on feature in Google Shopping in the US. You can get different sizes (XXS-4XL), skin tones and body types to simulate what something will look like on these avatars. You can then get a much closer approximation to how it would look on you.
Both of these initiatives alleviate some of the customers’ concerns and make their product choices easier.
( and no, despite trying virtually them on I sadly didn’t buy those frog clogs )
