
If you look at product pages you tend to see a couple of things:
– visitors scrolling the whole of the page and
– lots of clicks on the pagination/next page links
(as seen in the below heat and scroll maps)
It then stands to reason that you should give customers an infinite scroll so they can see all the products, right?
Not so fast:

Test results I’ve seen on adding infinite scroll:
– Homeware: increased order value and conversion rate
– Clothing: nothing happened and
– Clothing: slight decrease
and other numbers all over the spectrum
In addition you’ll find that making your page infinite scroll adds loading time, can decrease SEO benefits and can be a pain to develop.
As per usual, it’s not an automatic slamdunk to implement and your results may vary.
