Online share of US grocery spending is at around 10% mark (down from a pandemic peak of about 13%, but up from pre-pandemic 5%).
My research into grocery shoppers has shown that customers are:
– unsure of whether packers will pick the products as scrupulously as they would (expiry dates and quality)
– not sure about when it’ll be delivered and having to wait and
– worried about not getting a specific item that’s out of stock
amongst other reasons not to buy online.
What I didn’t realise is that people like grocery shopping so much. I do a lot of grocery shopping online (saves me time in the shops, convenience), but I do like visiting “cool” grocery destinations (butcher, baker, deli etc)
