I want to be able to do the same.
In business we’re told that we should have a narrative in what we communicate and that people respond to stories better than sterile data dumps. I believe this, but it’s sometimes difficult to know how to actually do this.
I listened to Lenny’s podcast interview with Matthew Dicks and then read the book. You should too because he explains tangible tactics to engage and tell stories.
Things I found noteworthy:
1. 𝟱 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁- all stories hinge upon this change that occurs in a 5 second moment
2. 𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀- he outlines tools (with cool names like backpack) for increasing stakes and interest in your story
3. 𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀- like my dad outlined there are numerous methods to amplify the impact of your story
4. 𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗼𝘂𝗿- it’s a great tool to break tension and change the mood, use it well
