Good reviews made me double my spend on a microwave.
I haven’t bought a microwave in 10 years and it’s hard to know how to buy something when you’re not buying it frequently. I did whatever any self respecting nerd in 2023 is going to do:
– I asked Chat GPT to help me to find the buying criteria for buying a microwave. – I asked Chat GPT what the new developments were in microwave technology.
– I looked at brands that I liked
– I had a half hour conversation with my wife
and we still didn’t know what to buy…
And then I saw a microwave that was too big for me and around double the price of the average microwaves but it had 79 ratings and a 4.9/5 average, which to me means it must be the microwave of the gods 😇 . That’s the one I ended up buying because the others were too difficult to make a decision on.
This speaks to the power of a good review. I’ve used reviews in testing many times, understanding:
– how to position them,
– excerpting specific reviews to counter objections for purchase.
– how and where you display them
– which pages to show them on
– and showing negative as well as positive reviews
Reviews are a great crutch for customers to lean on to make a purchase decision. You just have to help them find, digest and understand them.
