
Understanding the motivations and hesitations of website visitors is a puzzle I’m always interested in. Recently, I’ve enhanced my research methods with some quick and dirty strategies:
𝗥𝗲𝗱𝗱𝗶𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀: I scour Reddit for mentions of specific brands,(in this case Now Novel).I collect all these these mentions, then I ask AI to distill the primary benefits people experience and their key concerns and questions. This provides a real-world pulse on the brand perception.
𝗔𝗜/𝗮𝗴𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗩𝗶𝗲𝘄𝘀: I’m also looking for sentiments and recurring questions that potential customers grapple with. This involves probing: How do they approach purchases? What criteria influence their decisions? In Now Novel’s context, I explored the major hurdles faced by aspiring authors and the factors they consider when selecting a writing service. I then ask the AI to rank these insights. We know that AI is provided the aggregated wisdom of everyone, so it plays to it’s strengths when we ask it to give us customer painpoints.
While not an exhaustive method, this approach offers a rapid snapshot of customer sentiment, without having to recruit any customers.
