At Now Novel we’ve observed that one of the biggest challenges writers face is maintaining the motivation to persist with their writing – a task that can feel isolating when you’re at your keyboard for months, even years. Any support that simplifies this process is beneficial. Based on my experience, a writing community or a personal coach often provides this much-needed guidance.
AI has shown potential in assisting with brainstorming. An excellent example is Danny DeRuntz who wrote a children’s book with the aid of AI tools like MidJourney and ChatGPT. The result is amazing, showcasing how AI can indeed boost creativity. Contrastingly, the use of AI in writing takes a different form with GPT-Author, which claims to generate a fantasy novel in minutes for $4. This approach, however, might not appeal to everyone. Some (like me 🐷 ) might argue that this method lacks the artistic challenge and satisfaction of traditional writing, possibly resulting in a more generic outcome.
Nevertheless, I see vast opportunities in using AI to aid creative writing – it can critique your work, provide prompts when you’re stuck, and expand your ideas. It’s like another sharper pencil in your quiver.
